WHAT TO BRING

Knowing what to bring to camp is a question that we get a lot. It's a balance between wanting to be prepared and being overwhelmed with too much extra "stuff." 
This packing list can help! Take a look to see what you'll need, and what you won't!

Everyday

 

  • Casual and comfortable outdoor clothing. Campers will get dirty at camp!

  • Sneakers or other closed-toe shoes – Crocs with a back are acceptable.

    • NO open shoes, sandals, sling back sneakers, or bare feet are allowed in camp. This is strictly enforced.

    • Campers without proper footwear will be sent to the Health Supervisor to call home for proper footwear.

  • Water shoes may be worn to and from the lake only.

  • Spare pair of sneakers/shoes can be a good idea for wet days

  • Change of clothes (including underwear!) – campers may get wet during camp activities

  • Bathing suit and towel

  • Sunscreen

  • Hat, hair tie, or bandana

  • Insect repellent - non-aerosol, please!

  • Raincoat or poncho - No umbrellas, please!

  • Lunch (with drink) marked with name and unit – lunches will be kept in coolers until lunchtime.

  • ​Refillable water bottle labeled with name– Water is provided at each unit for campers to refill their water bottles.

  • Additional for Equestrian Program - Girls must wear long pants and closed-toed shoes/boots with no greater than a one inch flat heel.

 Overnight

  • Sleeping Bag

  • Sleeping mat (can be something like a yoga mat or foam pad)

  • Change of clothes (shirt, pants, socks, underwear)

  • Sweater or sweatshirt

  • Small pillow

  • Flashlight (check batteries and bulb) + extra batteries

  • Small bar soap

  • Toothbrush/toothpaste

  • Washcloth & small towel

  • Brush/Comb

  • Personal hygiene products

  • Pajamas

Three Night Stay

  • Clothes: Enough for 4 days of fun!

    • 6 t-shirts/appropriate tank tops

    • 3-5 pairs of shorts

    • 2 pairs of pants & 1 sweatshirt (in the event of cold weather)

    • Pajamas

    • 2 bathing suits (so you always have one that’s dry and ready to wear!)

    • 5 pairs of socks

    • 5 changes of underwear

    • Poncho/rain jacket in the event of inclement weather

    • 2 pairs of closed-toed footwear (crocs, sneakers, etc.) DO NOT PACK NEW SHOES!

    • 1 pair of crocs or flip flops for the shower/waterfront

  • Toiletries

    • Toothbrush/toothpaste

    • Soap/body wash/face soap

    • Shampoo/Conditioner

    • Deodorant (non-aerosol)

    • Shower tote

    • Towel (2 for shower, 1 for swimming)

    • Wash Cloth

    • Hairbrush/Comb

    • Hair ties

    • Bug Repellent (non-aerosol)

    • Sunscreen (non-aerosol)

  • Supplies

    • Pillow & Pillowcase

    • Sleeping bag

    • Sheet for inside sleeping bag

    • Towels – see above

    • Garbage bag for wet/dirty clothes to bring home

    • Mess kit

    • Flashlight with extra batteries

  • Other Items

    • Favorite stuffed animal

    • Books to read during down time

    • Backpack

    • Watch/battery-power clock

 

ITEMS NOT ALLOWED IN CAMP

Camp Amity Acres is not responsible for lost or stolen items. It is best to just leave these items at home.

  • Cellphones - Campers can be reached by calling the camp phone. (732) 751-2755

  • Electronic Devices - Including but not limited to iPads, iPods, e-readers, video games, and laptops.

  • Other valuables or your “best” anything!

  • Fireworks, alcohol, illegal drugs, firearms, and other weapons
