Horse Fun (Grades 2-3)
Girls will ride in morning sessions and participate in some basic camp activities during the afternoon. Girls will learn how to safely ride and work around horses, in a controlled and supervised environment. They will discover what goes into the caring and keeping of such large and special animals; they will have an instructor-led riding lesson every day.

Horse Fan (Grades 4-5)
Girls will connect with the horse world as they earn their Horse Fan badge. Activities will include daily riding lessons according to level. They will discover how people care for horses and learn barn management skills. Girls will also become familiar with different horse disciplines, horse equipment and riding apparel.

Horse Sense (Grades 6-10)
Throughout this week girls will complete the Interest Project Patch, Horse Sense. The girls will be able to saddle and bridle a horse; they will do this after learning how to identify the different tack and determine its best use. Girls will master basic horse control and learn the rules of a safe trail ride. Girls will also learn basic horse anatomy and the prevention and treatment of common horse ailments. For the riding lesson, girls will be grouped according to ability.

Course Requirements
Campers participating in horseback riding are required to wear approved safety helmets, which are provided. Long pants, closed toe/closed heel, hard-soled shoes with up to a one inch-flat heel are required. All participants receive horse safety instructions, a riding lesson and barn management training. Discounts may not be applied to horse programs. Girls without a signed health history and a horse riders' release will not be permitted to participate in the horse program. No refunds will be given and missed days may not be made up in a different week.
A bus will leave Amity Acres by 9:30 a.m. Upon arrival at Chariot Riders, Manchester, girls will begin their horse program. When their activities are complete, if time permits, there will be arts and crafts; games and other activities on-site. Upon returning to Amity Acres Day Camp girls will be permitted to swim if time permits. Horse activities are subject to weather
conditions and may be adjusted accordingly. No reimbursement will be given for program adjustments.
